Trying to get back into writing, so I wrote something cute and short between Shok and @thebakerstboyskeeper‘s Sidni Cadash.

Sidni gets caught being a little gushy.

Omg, these two!! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Shok just turns her into a squishy beast. I love it!

Loki stans :

He’s not joking lol.

I keep wondering wtf did he expect? The early screenings would have told him this reaction was coming. He had enough time to correct the script. Even if Loki absolutely had to die, he didn’t have to do it in such stupid, careless and humiliating manner. They didn’t deign to give him any closure or dignity, opting for an extra joke about Thor and his eye instead. Shrug. Do your bed better the next time, honey.

He’s shrewdly trying sic other “Marvel fans” onto Loki fans for treating him “unfairly” and garner some sympathy and generate further publicity. Luckily I don’t care about Marvel anymore or I’d feel so sick.

He’s salty cause there was almost no outcry about dusted characters. Betcha the original plan for A4 was to sweep Loki’s death under the rug in the excitement of receiving the dusted folk. Nobody took the bait and they’re totally expected to come back. So Loki fans already know that only Loki will not be revived a fact they didn’t know to be widely known.

Exactly. It’s so blatantly obvious that those who turned to dust will come back. Who’s gonna believe they would let Dr Strange or Spider-Man truly die? Do Marvel think us stupid or something? It’s so fucking “in your face” that only Loki will truly die, and die in such a stupid ooc manner, and they think WE are overreacting? Fuck them.

I still find it hilarious that Loki was clearly The Character people took to arms about. Peter who? Gamora why? Dr. Strange when? Bucky where? These deaths have produced crickets (in comparison), and not only because it’s obvious they’ll come back. Fans live off fretting. If the deaths had stuck hard enough, there’d be crying emojis everywhere and tearful letters to Russos too. But people are up in arms about a character who has been on Marvel’s chopping block for the last 3 films. I find that a deeply satisfying FU to TPTB.

You mean to say, Joe, that people are angry because your poorly written death scene for Marvel’s most popular character, portrayed by one of your best actors, was a shitshow? That Loki fans are mad because you lot decided to use him as a means to motivate Thor instead of as an actual character? That no one gives a shit about the “dusted deaths” because you guys don’t know how to end character arcs unless it involves a shit and ooc death scene? Well jee wiz, I am shocked!

I think what you mean is that Loki fans are not pleased because you lot can’t write a scene for shit and delegated him down to be killed for shock value, which is the oldest and lamest idea in the book. When you say we’re “angry”, I’m assuming you mean we’re all online listing all the reasons why Loki’s death was garbage and illogical and lazy. But hey, maybe you’re just annoyed that all the Loki stans aren’t in massive puddles of tears because you “killed our favourite”. Well guess fucking what, Joe; killing a popular character doesn’t automatically mean we’re all gonna cry like ten year old girls with crushes on a good-looking character. But hey, that’s what you think Loki fans are all like, right? We’re all young girls blinded by hormones looking at Loki through rose-tinted glasses and we only like him because he’s hot, right? I was really hoping to be deeply affected by Loki’s death, but the best you got out of me was a “that was fucking stupid” quietly uttered to my friend sitting next to me in the cinema.

But hey, I don’t know, Joe. Maybe you’re just salty because there’s a bunch of Loki fans online with no professional storytelling experience who are writing far more compelling, logical, emotionally charged, justifiable, in-character opening scenes to Infinity War than your team could ever hope to create.

Every bit of criticism you’re getting is completely justified, and you have no right to complain about it.

This is what happens when you write a goddamn shit death scene, so go lie in the bed you made, you gobshite.

Wait, wait, wait … let me get this straight: you can’t handle the criticism of your man pain, one trick writing? Really? Or your blatant disrespect to a well-established character? Or how about the reactions to you and your brother going out into the media and saying deliberately awful and demeaning things toward part of your fanbase and about a character/actor?

This is so sad. Alexa, play Despacito.

Honestly, I haven’t seen anything outwardly ridiculous or threatening toward them in relation to Loki (but I also know I avoid those dark corners of the internet and there are always going to be those dumb people), but this is just whining that things didn’t go your way and people are out there doing your job better than you ever could. For the most part, Loki fans being this upset has nothing to do with how hot we think he or his actor are or the bad boy persona or whatever you’re going to accuse “those Loki stans” of being. (Yes, there are some who may feel that way. And that’s fine too, so don’t be assholes to them.) It’s about his character, his arc, and those of us who identify with and invested part of ourselves into him. Who found a kindred spirit and then had that love and support thrown back in our faces. (Even after we lined your pockets for you. You’re welcome.)

Everyone before me has made the other points I would make more eloquently than I ever could.

And guess what? I’ve encountered quite a few non-Loki fans who were angered and disturbed by his death.

Man the fuck up and get over yourself. If you can’t take the heat, go back to whatever you were doing before. You’re not the amazing gods of this cinematic universe that you seem to think you are.

The Iron Bull doesn’t judge. We’ve both got shady pasts, but he has shown me how to laugh and enjoy things. And he looks out for all of us.

There is something pure about Cole’s wanting to help. It comes simply from a desire to see everyone happy. Not enough people think of that.

Blackwall is steadfast. He’s never wavered, even when he disagrees. I can trust him at my back.

Vivienne is no nonsense. You always know where you stand with her and don’t have to guess.

Sera always keeps me on my toes. Always.

Solas is wise and treats me as an equal. Even though my knowledge on certain subjects is lacking.

Cullen … Cullen is wonderful. I don’t deserve him.”

Headcanon Time

I have this headcanon that magic just doesn’t work on dwarves as well as anyone else. Attacks, healing, etc. I mean, dwarves automatically have magical resistance in their starting stats.

Now, elemental stuff is of course going to affect them. Fire is fire and ice is ice. But anything inherently magical just doesn’t stick very well to them. Maybe a little bit, but not to full effect.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy?

I totally agree! It’s something I wish would be addressed more in depth in dragon age because a) I just love dwarves and am thirsty for more info b) their natural “resistance” has to come from somewhere and c) I want to know how they react to different branches of magic. Like you said I think elemental magic is straightforward. But what about others?

Something really important I’ve wanted to know is this: is the magic resistance physical or spiritual/metaphysical? Or both? Because it would effect how different schools of magic interact with dwarves. For example…..

  • How would magic healing work? Does it take more energy to heal a dwarf than another race? Does it take more time? Is it done differently in any way? (I know in game mechanics don’t address this but magic is magic and if dwarves have a resistance…)
  • Entropy ties in with healing, in that it alters the inner workings of the body.
  • Blood magic. Does it effect the potency of the magic? Does it alter the requirements for the spell to work? Does it outright negate the spell? I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a dwarf be used for blood magic in canon so I’m not sure.
  • Necromancy is another one that brings up big questions for me. If it’s purely physical then it wouldn’t have any effect but if not, could they sill be summoned? Would it be more difficult to control their spirits, or bring them into being?
  • Do arcane warriors do as much damage? Obviously it’s a weapon, it’s going to hurt, but are the manifested weapons effected in any way? Are dwarves more difficult to cut through or bruise? Is it like fighting with a dull blade, or otherwise weakened weapon?
  • About spells like mana clash…. do they affect dwarves at all?
  • Spells like telekinesis and mind blast are also tricky, because they effect the physical in a way beyond physical, if that makes any sense.

All this to say: god I wish this was explained more. What I want to know is:

  1. What is it that gives the dwarves their resistance?
  2. Is the resistance physical or spiritual?
  3. How strong is the resistance really, and does it vary dwarf to dwarf?
  4. Does the resistance vary between arcane schools?

I could honestly write an entire essay on this subject. Unfortunately, I’m on my phone and it will have to wait until I get home.

But I’m glad I’m not the only one!! MOAR DWARF CONTENT PLEASE!!
